Stem cells are undifferentiated cells which have the unique potential to develop and differentiate into many different specialized cell types in the body. and they are characterized by the lifelong ability to renew themselves through mitotic cell division. Given their remarkable regenerative abilities, stem cells offer new breakthrough for curing diseases concerning cardiovascular, nervous, musculoskeletal and endocrinal degenerations.
In addition, the basic unit of the body is the cell and all lives are consisted of these small cells. The simple proposition that all diseases are caused by the cell contents a possibility that all diseases can be cured by cell regeneration. And making this possibility become a reality is "Regenerative medicine". Regenerative medicine is a learning territory which the basic concept and technique of both biomedical science and technologies are integrated and applied, and is also a cell therapy that cures cells of patients. Moreover, much work remains to be done in the laboratory and the clinic to understand how to use these stem cells for cell-based therapies to treat disease as a radical remedy.
This is the most contemporary concept between several approaches for recovering biological functional damage of the body and a new paradigm which differs from the concept of previous therapies.
Recently, there are several diverse candidates for stem cell researches, mainly the three broad types of mammalian stem cells are: embryonic stem cells that are isolated from blastocysts, non-embryonic "somatic" or "adult" stem cells that are found in adult tissues and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which allow some specialized adult cells to be "reprogrammed" genetically to assume a stem cell-like state.
For early clinical application of the regenerative medicine with various stem cells, we are starting the center for stem cell research since the beginning of 2010 and concentrate researches on regeneration of various damaged tissues.

- to screen new drugs and chemicals.
- to develop model systems to study normal growth and development
- to identify the causes of birth defecs and age-related degeneration.
Highly plastic adult stem cells from a variety of sources, such as bone marrow, umbilical cord blood, subcutaneous fat and synovium which are easily selected for medical therapies. Embryonic stem cells and iPSCs have also been proposed as promising candidates for future therapies.
