Center for Neuroscience Research
The nation’s aging population is growing rapidly.By 2030, the percentage of 65 years old or over will be more than 20% and by 2040, more than 30% of total population. With the increase in life expectancy and general health care efficiency, older adults are expected to live longer for many years with chronic diseases.
Accordingly, economical and social health care burden is now increasing enormously. Among the age-related disorders, geriatric neurologic diseases are common and no definite treatments are available yet.
The main mission of the center is to reduce the burden of geriatric neurologic diseases through "bench-to-bedside" approach to foster translational research.
To meet the goal, we facilitate and coordinate basic and clinical researchers together to study on the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of several geriatric neurologic diseases such as Alzheimer and Vascular dementia, stroke and Parkinson’s disease.
Eventual and special focus is on thevascular dementia, which could be more important in our nation compared with Western countries.
